Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my teacher portfolio!
My name is Liis Alliksoo and I am a master's student at the University of Tartu, studying to become a teacher of multiple subjects: Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), and English as a Second Language, while also specializing in Social Pedagogy. Here, you will find an overview of my professional journey, with a particular focus on my role, teaching philosophy, and experiences as a teacher of English.

ABOUT ME

I work as a teacher at Laekvere School, where this academic year I have taught Physical Education, Natural Sciences and PSHE. I also lead show dance training sessions for students in basic school. I am an active and dedicated educator who values continuous development and lifelong learning. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student feels seen, encouraged, and inspired to grow both academically and personally.

My motivation to become a teacher comes from a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. I believe thateducation shapes not only knowledge, but also confidence, compassion, and resilience, and I want to be part of that journey for every student I teach. This belief also inspired me to begin studies in social pedagogy, as I see the importance of supporting students’ emotional and social development alongside their academic growth.

I actively participate in professional development courses (This academic year: First Aid Course by Red Cross; BWF Shuttle Time by Badminton Estonia; Sports Injury Prevention and Management Training by Lääne-Virumaa Spordiliit) and am eager to join innovative educational activities and programs. For example, I am part of the Liikuma Kutsuv Kool (physical movement promoting) programme team at my school, where I organise activities and events that support students’ physical well-being and active learning.

I am grateful that my efforts as a teacher have been noticed and appreciated. In the 2024/2025 academic year, I was awarded a certificate of recognition by the Municipality of Vinni for my active attitude and dedicated work as a teacher at Laekvere School.
