Planning of learning and teaching activities

Why I Believe Lesson Planning Is Important

Lesson planning is an essential part of effective teaching. It provides structure, clarity, and purpose to each learning session. Planning helps to define what students are expected to learn and achieve by the end of the lesson. A well-structured lesson plan ensures that activities flow naturally from one to the next. Also, engaged students are more focused, therefore, behaviour issues are reduced. And last but not least, planning ensures that lessons are connected to learning outcomes and national or school curriculum requirements.

Classroom management

Assignment (TEFL Methodology I)
Place the activities planned for a lesson in the most suitable order. Formulate the possible learning outcome(s) of the lesson:

(1) Order of the activities:

1. D - In small groups, learners discuss extreme sports they would like to try. Open-class feedback.

2. G - Teacher explains that learners are going to read a text about an extreme sport.

3. B - Teacher shows a picture to elicit, check and drill harness and rip cord.

4. C - Teacher hands out ten TRUE/FALSE questions. Learners read, answer questions and then check in pairs. Teacher conducts feedback.

5. E - Teacher sets comprehension task on writer's overall feeling about his extreme sport experience. Learners read and check answers in pairs. Teacher conducts feedback.

6. A - Teacher asks learners to take turns imagining they are the writer and explaining the jump to their friend. Teacher monitors and notes down key errors.

7. F - Teacher writes up errors on the board and corrects examples of learner language from the role play.

(2) Learning outcome(s) of the lesson:

By the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:

1) recognize and use key terms related to extreme sports;

2) describe a real or imagined event.
